Camp Marafiki Pamoja is a summer camp located in Riruta-Satellite, Kenya. After beginning in 2016, this 100% volunteer-run camp works to provide a safe, enriching environment in which kids can learn, play, and grow into caring resilient adults. The camp typically takes place during the month of August, but is unable to run this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, the need for support continues. After having attended their camp fundraisers for many years, I have decided to take on a fundraiser of my own! Cupcakes for Kenya, my latest installment of Alex’s Cupcakes Delivered, will focus on fundraising for their important mission by #bakingadifference.
Did you know that $7 is enough to feed a child at Marafiki Pamoja for the entire month of August? Even with camp on pause this summer, Bright Star Academy will continue to feed children who attend the school and would have normally attended the camp. Without any public funding, they struggle to meet the demand they face daily. That’s why for every box of cupcakes that is sold through the fundraiser, $7 will be donated directly to the camp.
So wait… does that mean buying a box of cupcakes will feed a child in Kenya for the entire month of August? YOU BET!
To order, make a selection from each of the following:
1. Cake Flavour (Chocolate, Vanilla or Red Velvet)
2. Icing Flavour (Chocolate, Vanilla or Cream Cheese)
3. Design (Rose or Traditional, see images for visual)
Orders must be placed by Thursday, August 6th, and will be delivered in the morning on Sunday, August 9th. Delivery is included anywhere in the Kitchener-Waterloo area (to request a different location just send me a message). You can send them to yourself, a friend, neighbour, colleague, or anyone else who can help #bakeadifference.
