A long-debated question – candy or chocolate? With this Skittles cake, you can have both! This cake, made with a chocolate base, covered in Skittles, is a great mix of both!
The challenge with this cake was to make the skittles “pour” onto the cake. Creating a 3-D element that wouldn’t fall over was difficult, and involved a wooden dowel and chocolate. In addition, to make a package that appeared full, I stuffed it with cotton balls, which also helped with stability so it wouldn’t fall off the dowel. As a result, the cake has a cool 3-D effect that adds to the theme and makes for a cool design.
Usually after a sale, I don’t get to see what has happens to the cake! This time, I got some great pics of the final celebration before eating the cake.
